Men's Basketball Falls After Late Surge by Anchormen

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI: Fitchburg State men's basketball took on the Anchormen of Rhode Island College this evening, falling in non-conference action 86-79.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/16/25

- Score: RIC 86, Fitchburg 79

- Records: RIC (11-4), Fitchburg (4-11)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  This game saw six ties and seven lead changes throughout. Each team seemed to be evenly matched until the final few minutes of the contest when the Anchormen found a groove and went on a run. The Falcons tried to come back but couldn't match the production of RIC.

- Three of the Anchormen starters topped all scorers in the contest with a combined 59 points. Dwayne Robinson-O'Hagan led the way with a game-high 23 points. Xavier Mendez and Loudon Chupas both finished with 18 points. Mendez also pulled down 11 rebounds, completing the double-double. Ousmane Kourouma also was a big contributor, finishing with 14 points and 20 rebounds.

- The Falcons had a solid performance coming off the bench, with Nathaniel Semedo (Bridgewater, MA) scoring 14 points and Matthew Drayton (Boston, MA) finishing with 12 points and four rebounds. The scoring leader for Fitchburg was Nicholas Von Zboray (Pollock Pines (CA), who finished the game with 15 points and two steals.

-  3PT: Fitchburg 32%, RIC 30.8%

-  Free Throw: Fitchburg 77.8%, RIC 50%
