Men's Basketball Downed by the Owls of Westfield State

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg men's basketball was taken down in conference action this afternoon by the Owls of Westfield State by a score of 105-86.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/18/25

- Score: Westfield 105, Fitchburg 86

- Records: Westfield (14-3, 4-0 MASCAC), Fitchburg (4-12, 1-2 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Owls quickly jumped out in front of the Falcons and were able to hold their lead throughout the contest, growing their lead to 23 in the second half with 16:43 left. The Falcons did chip away at the deficit by outscoring the Owls in the second half 51-50.

- The Owls kept and maintained the behind four key players. Kenneth Rogers, Lid Moreland, Timmy Jacobus, and Xavier Lewis. Rogers led the way for Westfield with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. Moreland was just behind him after having a good day driving the basketball and finishing with good touch around the rim for 23 points. Jacobus hit 6-9 from behind the arc, which gave him 18 points. Lewis also found much success going through the interior of the Falcons defense for another 15 points.

- The Falcons had the game-high scorer in Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX), who finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Matthew Drayton (Boston, MA) continued to score for the Falcons again in this one, putting up 21 points. Duvall Price (Lanham, MD) rounded out the top performers for Fitchburg. He finished the game with 18 points and eight rebounds.

-  3PT: Westfield 41.4%, Fitchburg 30%

-  Free Throw: Fitchburg 85.7%, Westfield 56.5%
