Men's Basketball Falls Short to Bears

BRIDGEWATER, MA: Fitchburg State men's basketball fell short to the Bears of Bridgewater State this evening in conference action 74-70.  

THE BASICS:

- Score: Bridgewater 74, Fitchburg 70

- Records: Bridgewater (6-11, 1-4 MASCAC), Fitchburg (4-13, 1-3 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  It was a tale of two halves for the Falcon. The first half saw Fitchburg up 41-32 going into the break behind Nathaniel Semedo (Bridgewater, MA), who had a team-high 12 points at the half. The Falcons continued to lead into the second, seeing their largest lead at 17:58, which was 15 points. However, the Bears methodically worked their way back into the game, tying it back up at 59-59 with just 6:38 to go. The game would proceed to go back and forth with four ties and six lead changes. At the end of the contest, Bridgewater's free throws sealed it, as they were 20-25 (80%) compared to the Falcons 14-22 (63.6%).  

- TJ Williams and Louis Jennings topped the Bridgewater offense with a combined 38 points, each netting 19. Williams also contributed a team-high eight rebounds. Joshua Campbell also played a key role in the victory, adding 16 points of his own, along with five rebounds.

- The Falcons top option on the night continued to be Semedo. He concluded the contest with a team-high 15 points while coming off the bench. Jalin Pitts (Palatka, FL) and Nicolas Von Zboray (Pollock Pines, CA) significantly contributed to the team's efforts. Pitts was second on the team in points with 12 and led the team in rebounds with nine. Zboray was the team's top three-point option, going 3-6, helping him get to his 11 points.

-  Shooting: Bridgewater 37.9%, Fitchburg 37.3%

-  3PT: Fitchburg 25%, Bridgewater 18.2%

-  Free Throws: Bridgewater 80%, Fitchburg 63.6%

- Rebounds: Bridgewater 48, Fitchburg 41

- Turnovers: Fitchburg 11, Bridgewater 13

Fitchburg State men's basketball will return to action Saturday when Salem State comes to Parkinson Gym for another MASCAC contest, which starts at noon.
