Fitchburg State Receives Votes In DIII Ice Hockey Poll
Falcons five-game unbeaten streak lifts team into USCHO.com Poll

FITCHBURG, Mass. (February 1, 2011) – The Fitchburg State ice hockey team received a pair of votes this past week, gaining ground in the latest USCHO.com Division III Men's Ice Hockey Poll.
The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 20 voters, including 18 coaches of Division III programs and two men's hockey writers. USCHO.com contains in-depth coverage of college hockey from the Division I, II, and III levels, while providing the latest rankings, scores and highlights.
This season, Fitchburg State has posted an overall record of 13-4-1 with a 7-3-1 mark in the MASCAC. The Falcons currently share a lead of first place in the MASCAC, using a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) to catch Plymouth State University and UMass Dartmouth in the rankings. Junior Thomas McAleer (East Islip, N.Y./New York Bobcats) has led the Falcons offense, collecting a team-best 21 points with eight goals and 13 assists, while senior captain Chris Riggs (Sewell, N.J./Fort Vancouver Pioneers) ranks a close second with 20 points, seven goals and 13 helpers.
In net, Fitchburg State has possessed one of the league's top goaltending tandems in junior Bobby Leiser (Monroe, N.Y./New York Applecore) and senior Robert Vorse (Leominster, Mass./Bay State Breakers). Together, the pair has combined for a minimal 2.31 goals against average with a .934 save percentage and only 42 goals allowed. Leiser leads the Falcons with a 9-2-0 record, 343 saves and 2.29 GAA, while Vorse has tallied 249 stops, a. 929 save percentage and a 2.34 GAA.
