Three Falcons Earn MASCAC All-Conference Honors

Pescosolido named to All-Conference first team; Riggs/Threlkeld earn second team nods

FITCHBURG, Mass. (March 4, 2011) – The Fitchburg State ice hockey named three players to the MASCAC All-Conference team as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Billy Pescosolido (Framingham, Mass./Walpole Express) headlined the list of Fitchburg State honorees after being named to the MASCAC All-Conference first team, while forwards Chris Riggs (Sewell, N.J./Fort Vancouver Pioneers) and Kris Threlkeld (Centerville, Ohio/CD Selects) took home second team nominations.

Pescosolido, a 2010-11 Joe Concannon Award semifinalist, earns his first career All-Conference accolade after leading the Fitchburg State defensive line throughout the season. His play on the blue line has Fitchburg State ranked as one of the top defensive teams in the MASCAC, limiting opponents to only 49 goals allowed and a minimal 2.69 goals per game. This season, Pescosolido has appeared in all 27 games for the Falcons, totaling 19 points on six goals and 13 assists.

Riggs, a first-time All-Conference honoree, has enjoyed a successful senior season, ranking second on the squad with 32 total points. This season, Riggs has appeared in 25 games, posting 12 goals and 20 assists, including five power-play markers and three game-winning tallies. He has notched 131 career points (46 goals, 85 assists) in a Falcons uniform, while seeing action in 106 career games.

Rounding out the list of All-Conference members is junior forward Kris Threlkeld. This year, Threlkeld has had a breakout season, ranking first on the team in scoring with 33 points. He has totaled a team-best 21 assists to go with 12 goals scored, including two power-play tallies, one short-handed score and two game-winning markers.

Fitchburg State (17-9-1, 9-8-1 MASCAC) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as it travels to Salem State University for the 2010-11 MASCAC Championship starting at 2 p.m.
