Framingham, Mass. native collects second post-season honor

FITCHBURG, Mass. (April 1, 2011) – Senior Billy Pescosolido (Framingham, Mass./Walpole Express) was recently named to the 2010-11 New England Division III All-Star Team as announced by the New England Hockey Writers Association earlier this week.

Pescosolido, a 2010-11 Joe Concannon Award semifinalist, earns his first New England Division III All-Star honor after leading the Fitchburg State ice hockey team to the 2011 MASCAC Championship crown. As a member of the Falcons defensive line, Pescosolido appeared in all 28 games for the Falcons, totaling 19 points on six goals and 13 assists.

With his play on the blue line, Fitchburg State ranked as one of the top defensive teams in the MASCAC, limiting opponents to only 49 goals allowed (MASCAC play) and a minimal 2.69 goals per game. Over his four years at the University, Pescosolido saw action in 107 career games, totaling 55 points with 14 goals and 41 assists.

The New England Hockey Writers Association will hold the 2011 All-Star Awards banquet on Tuesday, April 13th at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass. All awards and All-Star teams will be presented as well as the Division II/III Coach of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Year. Tickets are $35 per person and available by calling Pete Souris at 781-245-2122.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team concluded the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 18-9-1 and a 9-8-1 clip in the MASCAC.
