Fitchburg State received a strong effort from its offensive leaders as junior Kris Threlkeld (Centerville, Ohio/CD Selects) and senior Chris Riggs (Sewell, N.J./Fort Vancouver Pioneers) combined for seven points in the contest. Threlkeld led all scorers with a game-high four points on one goal and three assists, while Riggs added a pair of markers and one dish on the evening. Seniors Kevin McCready (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Mohawk CC) and Billy Pescosolido (Framingham, Mass./Walpole Express) were also strong, chipping in with two points apiece.
Plymouth State got on the board first early in the opening period with a goal by junior Chris Zaremba (Colorado Springs, Colo./Portland Jr. Pirates) but Fitchburg State answered with four consecutive goals over the next 20 minutes to post a commanding 4-1 lead by the 7:12 mark of the second stanza.
McCready sparked the Falcons surge with his 12th score of the season at 15:51 of the first period, before Riggs gave the Falcons its first lead of the contest (2-1) with a tally at 19:09.
