UMass Dartmouth grabbed the early lead midway through the first period as senior Adam Horgan (Clayton, N.C./Jersey Hitmen) netted his second goal of the season, re-directing a pass from junior Rob Dudley (Douglas, Mass./Middlesex School) at the 9:02 mark. The Corsairs added another tally late in the second period as Stahl converted his tenth goal of the season for a 2-0 advantage heading into the final stanza.

In the third period, Fitchburg State cut the UMass Dartmouth lead in half early, as freshman Shawn Bradley (Tewksbury, Mass./Central Catholic) fired home a wrist shot just 2:45 into the period. Bradley connected for his second goal of the year, using assists from juniors Stephen Oldfield (Leominster, Mass./SNHU) and Travis Bertolotti (Miller Place, N.Y./New York Bobcats) on the play.

The Fitchburg State comeback was halted however as Tracy and the Corsair defense stood strong for the remainder of the match. Stahl capitalized late in the contest, registering an empty-net goal to secure UMass Dartmouth’s eighth conference victory of the season. With the victory, the Corsair move into sole possession of first place atop the MASCAC standings.

Fitchburg State outshot UMass Dartmouth, 29-25 in the contest as senior goaltender Robert Vorse (Leominster, Mass./Bay State Breakers) stopped 24 shots for the Falcons.

Fitchburg State (13-5-1, 7-4-1 MASCAC) will hit the ice again next Thursday as it hosts Framingham State at 7 p.m. UMass Dartmouth (13-5-1, 8-3-1 MASCAC) will host Salem State University on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
