Lawler and Zaino lead Falcons past Lancers with one goal apiece

WORCESTER, Mass. (January 17, 2012) – The Fitchburg State ice hockey team rebounded this evening, posting a pair of third period goals to rally past Worcester State University, 2-1 in MASCAC action.

Trailing 1-0 after a Nathan Stanley (Boise, Idaho/Idaho Jr. Steelheads) goal late in the first period, the Falcons started their comeback early in the third, as Lawler posted his sixth goal of the season off a Joseph Caveney (Fitchburg, Mass./UMass Lowell) assist. Zaino followed suit at the 13:59 mark, recording his fourth goal of the year with a helper from freshman Sean Loebs (Creeskill, N.J./Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack) to net the eventual game-winner.

In net, sophomore Randy Wolcott (East Haven, Conn./Wisconsin-Stevens Point) earned the victory for Fitchburg State, totaling 35 saves to improve to 3-2-0 on the year.
