Fitchburg State Hosts Wounded Warrior Benefit Game

Ice Hockey to host first annual Wounded Warrior game this Saturday

FITCHBURG, Mass. (January 27, 2014) – The Fitchburg State ice hockey team will be hosting its first annual Wounded Warrior Project game this Saturday, February 1st as the Falcons hosts the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth for a contest starting at 7 p.m.

Fitchburg State University and the Fitchburg Police Relief Association have joined forces to support the Wounded Warrior Project to organize this benefit hockey game at the Wallace Civic Center. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from members of the Relief Association, at the Civic Center or online at https://support.fitchburgstate.edu/warrior.

The Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or co-incident to their military service on or after September, 11, 2001 and their families. On that date, many Americans watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers. Many warriors note a sense of duty to volunteer for the military following their tragic events.

With the mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs. Offering a variety of programs and services, WWP is equipped to serve warriors with every type of injury – from the physical to the invisible wounds of war.
