Jakobsson Earns MASCAC Rookie And Goaltender Of The Week Honors
Jonkoping, Sweden native collects second weekly honor of the season
FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper Charles Jakobsson was named both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie and Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
The first-year Falcon earns his second weekly accolade of the season after stopping 62 of the 63 shots he faced with a save percentage of .984 and a goals against average of 0.50 in a 2-0 week Fitchburg State.
Jakobsson turned away all 34 shots he faced in Fitchburg State's 4-0 shutout victory over Framingham State on Thursday evening before adding 28 saves in the Falcons 3-1 win against the Owls of Westfield State on Saturday.
The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (10-10-1, 7-6-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as it travels to Worcester State to take on the Lancers for a contest starting at 8:30 p.m.
