Falcons Earn Trio Of MASCAC Weekly Honors

Celli named Player of the Week; Jakobsson tabbed Goaltender and Rookie of the Week

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Senior forward John Celli was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Week, while freshman Charles Jakobsson earned both MASCAC Goaltender and Rookie of the Week accolades as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Celli collects his first weekly honor of the season after registering three points on two goals and one helper in Fitchburg State's 4-0 shutout victory over the sixth seeded Rams of Framingham State in quarterfinal round action of the 2015-16 MASCAC ice hockey tournament at the Wallace Civic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Jakobsson receives his third weekly accolade of the 2015-16 campaign after turning away all 25 shots he faced in the Green and Gold's 4-0 win over Framingham State University on Saturday, en-route to his third shutout victory on the year.

Fitchburg State (11-13-2, 7-9-2 MASCAC) returns to the ice on Tuesday as it travels to the second seeded Panthers of Plymouth State University in semifinal round action of the 2015-16 MASCAC ice hockey tournament at 6 p.m.
