McGrath Sweeps MASCAC Ice Hockey Weekly Awards

Worcester, Mass. native collects fourth weekly accolade on the year

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman goaltender Brian McGrath (Worcester, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Player, Rookie and Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year Falcon picks up his fourth weekly honor on the season after stopping all 45 shots he faced with a perfect 0.00 goals against average in a 2-0 shutout victory over UMass Dartmouth in the MASCAC ice Hockey Championship Game on Saturday, while also earning Tournament MVP honors for his efforts.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (18-6-3, 11-4-3 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Nichols College on Saturday for an NCAA DIII Ice Hockey Championship first round contest at a time to be determined.
