How It Happened

The Green and Gold took a 1-0 lead late in the first period. First-year Gene Bouthiette (Enfield, Conn.) collected a loose puck in front of the Rams netminder senior Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) and rifled a shot top-shelf for his second goal of the season. Senior Christopher Vicario (Cranston, RI) and freshman Adam Kusior (Tecumseh, Ont.) had the assists on the goal. Fitchburg goaltender junior Brian McGrath (Worcester, Mass.) has nine saves in frame.

Framingham State evened the score midway through the second period with a shorthanded tally.  Sophomore Zach Bettmeng (Sioux Falls, SD) intercepted a Falcon pass on the blue line and found classmate Jacob Garman (Anchorage, AK) for his third goal on the year. The Falcons moved ahead 2-1 with just under four minutes remaining in the period. Freshman Wyatt Wilmshurst (Massena, NY) notched his third goal of the season when he corralled a free puck in the slot and deposited in the back of the Rams net.

Freshman Hunter Fortin (Westerville, Ohio) added an insurance goal for the Falcons at 10:13 of the third period en route to the 3-1 final.
