McGrath Selected MASCAC Ice Hockey Goaltender Of The Week

Worcester, Mass. native earns fourth weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State junior goaltender Brian McGrath (Worcester, Mass.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The third-year Falcons picks up his fourth weekly honor on the year after making 65 saves with a 0.48 goals against average and a .985 save percentage in a 1-0-1 week for the Green and Gold. McGrath stopped 30 shots for Falcons in a 2-1 win over Westfield State on Thursday before adding 35 saves in a 0-0 overtime draw with UMass Dartmouth on Saturday as Fitchburg State secured the second seed in the upcoming MASCAC Ice Hockey post-season tournament.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (13-7-4, 10-3-4 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as the Falcons travel to Worcester State to take on the Lancers in the regular season finale for both teams, starting at 4:40 PM.
