Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, R.I.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year netminder nets his first weekly accolade on the year after stopping all 27 shots he faced with a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage in the Falcons 3-0 victory over New England College on Friday evening.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey Team (1-0, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as they host the Panthers of Plymouth State for a MASCAC matchup, starting at 6:00 PM.
