
Falcons Draw Even with Rams, 3-3
Fitchburg, Mass. –The Fitchburg State ice hockey team battled to a 3-3 overtime draw with the Rams of Framingham State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Saturday evening at Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened
The Rams scored the game's first goal just 2:31 into the match. Sophomore Devante Dixon's (Aurora, CO.) shot from the blue line caromed off the end board and tucked in behind the Falcons' netminder, rookie Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI). The Falcons' answered on the power-play. Junior Michael Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) tipped in Egan Wolford's (San Jose, Calif.) blast from the blue line.
Junior Cole Archambeault (Leominster, Mass.) gave the Falcons' a 2-1 advantage at 15:25 as he skated out of the corner and deposited a wrist-shot into the back of the net.
A backhanded tally from sophomore Dylan Marty (New Richmond, WI) evened the score at 2-2 in the second frame. The Falcons answered seconds later as sophomore Corey Tumenas (Leominster, Mass.) notched his first collegiate goal off a feed from Wolford.
With less than a minute remaining in regulation, the Rams pulled their goaltender for a 6-on-5 advantage, and junior Patrick Colgan (Bronx, NY) had a seeing-eye goal from the blue line to knot the game a 3-3.
The teams had several quality chances in the overtime period, but both goaltenders turned in outstanding performances.
Inside the Numbers
- The Falcons held the advantage in shots (52-31), and converted 1-for-9 on the power-play
- The Rams were 0-for-6 with the man-advantage
- Max Macchioni posted 31 saves in the tie, while his counterpart Blake Carlson stopped 52 shots.
