Macchioni Earns Both MASCAC Rookie And Goaltender Of The Week

North Kingstown, R.I. native picks up pair of weekly honors

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, R.I.) was recently selected both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week and Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year goaltender earns his second and third weekly accolades on the year after posting 59 saves with a 2.40 goals against average and a .922 save percentage in a 1-0-1 week for the Green and Gold.

Macchioni made 31 saves in a 7-2 triumph over Salem State on Thursday before adding 28 stops in a 3-3, overtime draw with Framingham State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey Team (2-1-1, 1-1-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as travel to UMass Dartmouth to take on the Corsairs in a MASCAC tilt, starting at 7:30PM.
