Macchioni Earns MASCAC Goaltender Of The Week

North Kingstown, R.I. nets fourth weekly accolade on the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, R.I.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year goaltender picks up his fourth weekly honor on the year after posting totaling 50 saves with a 1.52 goals against average and a .943 save percentage in a 2-0 week for the Green and Gold.

Macchioni turned aside 25 shots in a 5-2 triumph over Westfield State on Thursday evening before making 25 saves in a 5-1 victory against Worcester State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey Team (5-2-2, 3-1-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday, December 29th as they travel to UMass Boston to take on the Beacons in opening round action of the 2022 Codfish Bowl, starting at 1:30  PM.
