Macchioni Named MASCAC Rookie Of The Week

North Kingstown, R.I. collects fifth weekly honor on the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, R.I.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year goaltender collects up his fifth weekly accolade on the year after totaling 60 saves with a 2.49 goals against average and a .923 save percentage over a pair of contests for the Falcons. Macchioni stopped 24 shots in a 4-3 victory over Framingham State on Thursday before adding 36 saves in a 3-2, overtime triumph against UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State Ice Hockey Team (8-6-2, 6-2-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Westfield State to take on the Owls in MASCAC action, starting at 5:35PM.
