How It Happened
After peppering the Rivier netminder with 15 first-period shots the Falcons' finally tipped the twine with 12 seconds left in the frame. Sophomore Michael Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) skated into traffic across the Rivier net, when senior Rece Bergeman (Newark, Del) collected the loose puck and fired a wrist-shot top shelf for the 1-0 lead.
The Falcons double the score (2-0) with a goal midway through the second period. Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) fired a shot that broke through the pads of Rivier netminder Luke Newell (Littleton, Co) for his fourth goal of the season. Junior Cole Archambeault (Leominster, Mass.) and Oliver Cookson (Sheffield, Mass.) added helpers on the score.
With four minutes to play in the period, senior Gene Bouthiette (Enfield, Conn.) found Bergman open in front of the net for his second tally of the night. Three minutes later senior Hunter Fortin (Westerville, Ohio) made it 4-0, with his ninth goal of the year.
Archambeault added an insurance goal late in the third period for the 5-0 shutout.
