
Ice Hockey Defeats Trailblazers, 1-0 In Overtime
Nedelka nets game winner for Green and Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team defeated the Trailblazers of MCLA, 1-0 in overtime this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happene
Fitchburg State threatened midway through the second period as freshman Isaiah McKinney (Nashua, NH) and senior Cole Archambeault (Leominster, MA) put back-to-back shots on frame, but MCLA goaltender Matthew Gover (Atkinson, NH) turned aside both shot to preserve the 0-0 deadlock. MCLA's best scoring opportunity occurred with two minutes remaining in the stanza when newcomer Sean Schifferl (Fort Myers, FL) fired a shot on target only to have Falcon netminder Max Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) deny the shot to send game into the third period scoreless.
Following a scoreless third period, Fitchburg State secured the victory 1:57 into the overtime when freshman Adam Nedelka (Srch, Czech Republic) settled a feed from graduate student Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, QUE) and junior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) and buried shot inside the far post for his third tally on the season, resulting in the 1-0 final.
