Ice Hockey Flies Past Rams

Macchioni nets first college goal for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team collected a 5-1 victory over the Rams of Framingham State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened

Framingham State opened the scoring two minutes into the first period when junior Samuel Larkin (Douglas, MA) deposited a shot inside the near post for his tally on the season off assists from junior Bobby Bernier (Allen, TX) and sophomore Scott Bugarin (Moreno Valley, CA) for the 1-0 edge.

Fitchburg State knotted the score at 1-1 two and half minutes later as sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) settled a feed from freshman Elowan Orme Lynch (Courbeyoie, France) and senior Samuel Rennick (Salisbury, MA) and fired a shot into the right side of the net for his second marker on the year.

The Falcons took a 2-1 advantage 12:40 into the frame with Orme Lynch finding the back of the net on the power play, tucking a shot into the lower left corner for his third score of the 2024-25 campaign with assists from senior Jack Johansen (Milford, NH) and junior Nicholas Weber (Peoria, AZ).

The Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-1 one minute later when freshman Marcus Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) took a pass from Rennick and sophomore Nicolas Millhorn (Brownstown, MI) and buried a shot into the net for his first collegiate tally. Fitchburg State upped the advantage at the 18:01 mark as Rennick connected on his second marker on the year with an assist by Macchioni and) to make the score 4-1.

In the middle period, Fitchburg State extended the lead to 5-1 with sophomore Declan Bronte (Werribee, BC) netting his first tally of the year off assists from sophomore Alexandre Bauvais (Mendon, France) and Orme Lynch
