Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State opened the scoring midway through the opening period as sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) settled a feed from classmate Elowan Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) and junior Trenton Skaggs (Oconomowoc, WI) and wrapped a shot inside the far post for his fifth tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.
Worcester State knotted the score at 1-1 with just under four minutes remaining in the first period when graduate student Brian Clougherty (Lynn, MA) received a pass from senior Brigham Neuhold (Edmond, OK) and found the back of the net for his third goal of the 2024-25 campaign.
In the third period of play, the Falcons regained the advantage with sophomore Kristopher Zapata (Cherry Hill, NJ) collected a pass from senior Oliver Cookson (Sheffield, MA) and sophomore Jackson Collins (Wakefield, NC) and buried a shot into the left side of the net for his first marker of the season to make the 2-1.
The Lancers quickly retied the contest at 2-2 forty seconds later with sophomore Matthew Nuzzolilo (Worcester, MA) connecting on a shot handed tally for his fourth score on the season. Worcester State grabbed the lead at the 9:39 mark as junior Shane Prifriel (Inver Grove Heights, MN) deposited a shot into the right side of the net for his fifth marker on the season with assists from Nuzzolilo and sophomore Stirling Nash (Seattle, WA) to make the score 3-2.
The visitors pushed the lead to 4-2 minutes later when senior Martin Dlugolinsky (Stara Lubovina, SLO) settled a feed from freshman Cam Quigley (Quincy, MA) and Prifrel and struck for his fourth of the season.
The Green and Gold got on board with two second remaining in regulation as junior Nicholas Weber (Peoria, AZ) gathered a feed from Skaggs and senior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) and tucked a shot into the lower left corner for his fifth marker of the 2024-25 season, resulting in the 4-3 final.
