Fitchburg State Draws MCLA, 0-0 (2 OT)

Hanratty totals eight saves, including four overtime stops in MASCAC draw

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (October 5, 2013) – The Fitchburg State men's soccer team registered its second consecutive MASCAC draw as it battled the Trailblazers of MCLA to a 0-0 deadlock at Shewcraft Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the tie MCLA is 0-2-1 in MASCAC play, while Fitchburg State evens its record at 4-4-3 on the year and 1-0-2 in the conference. 

MCLA's best chance came when Romeo Gray headed down the right side of the field in the second half and touched the ball towards the goal as Fitchburg State goalie Aidan Hanratty (East Bridgewater, Mass.) drew the shot wide. 

Fitchburg State then registered its best chance of the game to score when the ball was loose inside the goalie box but back-to-back stops by Trailblazer goalie Matt Robinson kept the game at a 0-0 stand still.

In overtime, neither team found the back of the net, swapping shots on goal with three apiece. On the day, MCLA and Fitchburg State took 14 shots on the day with Hanratty stopping eight shots in the complete game effort. 

Fitchburg State will be back in action on Wednesday as it hosts Lesley University at 7 p.m.  MCLA will visit Framingham State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
