Krikorian Earns ECAC DIII New England Accolade

Groton, Mass. native named ECAC DIII NE men's soccer rookie of the year 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman forward Matthew Krikorian was recently tabbed Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII New England Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year as announced by the conference office earlier this week.

In addition, Krikorian was also named to the ECAC Dvision III NE Men's Soccer All-Star First Team, while senior midfielder Steven Martinez was also named to the ECAC DIII New England Men's Soccer All-Star First Team.

The first-year Falcon witnessed a breakout rookie campaign, totaling a team-best 24 points on 11 goals scored and two assists in 15 games for the Green and Gold en-route to leading the Fitchburg State men's soccer team to the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament championship game.

Martinez helped anchor Fitchburg Stae's midfield, ranking third on the team with seven points on two goals scored and three helpers in 19 appearances for the Green and Gold.

The Fitchburg State men's soccer team concluded its 2016 season with an overall record of 7-12-1 and a 3-4 mark in the MASCAC.
