Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's soccer team registered a 2-1 triumph over the Bears of Bridgewater State University this morning in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Elliot Field

How It Happened
Bridgewater State nearly grabbed the lead ten minutes into the contest as junior Kevin Roberts (Medway, Mass.) collected a loose ball in front of the net and fired a shot, but Falcon keeper Sebastian Jaramillo (Dracut, Mass.) made a diving save to his right to preserve the 0-0 stalemate.
Fitchburg State's best scoring chance of the first half occurred in the 31st minute of play when freshman Sebastian Pina (Somerville, Mass.) put a shot on target that Bear goaltender Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) was able to make a sprawling save to his left to keep the contest scoreless at the half.
Following the intermission, the Falcons broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 55th minute of action as freshman Alexander Loyd (Kingston, Mass.) collected a feed from junior Yannick DePina (Boston, Mass.) and connected on his team-leading 11th tally on the season.
The Bears knotted the score (1-1) seconds later with senior Zachary Ellis (Douglas, Mass.) converting a penalty kick for his first score of the year. Fitchburg State regained the lead with just five seconds remaining in the contest as senior Nolan Brassard (Leominster, Mass.) gathered a rebound off the foot of freshman Joshua Atemkeng (Peabody, Mass.) and blasted a shot inside the near post for his first goal of the 2019 campaign, resulting in the 2-1 final.
