How It Happened
Framingham State grabbed a 1-0 advantage at the 31:31 mark when sophomore Jefferson Malachie (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) received a feed from classmate Kumphel Sinha (Darjeeling, India) and tucked the ball inside the near post for his second goal of the season.
The Rams doubled their margin seven minutes later as senior Giovanni Green (Montego Bay, Jamaica) found Malachie off a free kick from 20 yards out before Malachie headed the ball into the left side of the net for his second tally of the contest to make the score 2-0 going into the half.
Following the intermission, the Fitchburg State threatened midway through the second half with juniors Dylan McCall (Burlington, Conn.) and Rizkhan Muhwezi (Attleboro, Mass.) putting back-to-back shots on target, but Rams keeper Jake Hartshorn (Chelmsford, Mass.) denied both shots.
Framingham State secured the victory in the 81st minute of action when freshman Breyner Depina (Fogo, Cape Verde) settled a loose ball in front of the net and connected on his second marker of the 2021 campaign before Malachi tacked on his third score of the day about a minute later, resulting in the 4-0 final.
