Desrochers Claims All-American Honors At NCAA Championships

Dracut, Mass. native earns All-American Accolades in the weight throw

FITCHBURG, Mass. (March 8, 2013) – Senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) competed at the 2013 Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by North Central College (Naperville, Ill.) on Friday and Saturday.

Desrochers entered the NCAA Division III Championships ranked fifth in the nation after witnessing a huge week at the DIII New England Championships in mid-February. Zach set his NCAA qualifying mark in the weight throw with a toss of 19.03 meters, placing first overall in the event.

At the 2013 Championships, Desrochers collected his first career All-American honor, earning top seven honors in the weight throw. The senior thrower posted a mark of 18.69 meters (61 feet, 4 inches).

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams concluded their seasons last weekend as members of the squads competed at the ECAC Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center.
