Fitchburg State Races At Jay Carisella Invitational

Sattiewhite paced Falcons, earning top honors in the high jump with an Open NE qualifying mark of 2.03m

BOSTON, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2015-16 Jay Carisella Invitational on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.

For the men, sophomore Ben Sattiewhite continued his strong start to the 2015-16 season, placing first overall in the high jump with a MASCAC, DIII NE, ECAC and Open New England qualifying mark of 2.03m, while classmate Chavinskee Milcent notched an ECAC qualifying jump of 1.93m in the high jump with a second place effort.

Sophomore Timothy Breen was also solid for the Falcons, turning in a DIII NE qualifying mark of 4.05 meters with a ninth place finish in the pole vault, while freshman Cameron Stalters added a 19th place effort in the 60 meter hurdles to qualify for DIII New England's.

On the track, junior Chauncey Beatty (8th), classmate Nicholas Levenson (16th) and sophomore Jake Hastings (19th) qualified for MASCAC's in the 400m with times of 51.56, 53.08 and 54.21 seconds respectively, while in the 800 meter, sophomore Liam Eble (2:09.40) and senior Michael Martin (2:15.98) added post-season qualifying times, placing 17th and 21st overall.

In the mile, sophomore Brian Amaral (10th), Eble (28th) and Martin (30th) turned in MASCAC qualifying times of 4:30.20, 4:42.78 and 4:51.98 respectively, Hastings (15:48.80), classmate Anthony Darrigo (16:23.21) and senior Timothy Allen (16:53.57) placed eighth, tenth and 15th in the 5000m to qualify for MASCAC's

In the field, Milcent (7th) and Levenson (14th) posted MASCAC qualifying marks of 6.33m and 5.81m in the long jump, while newcomer Brendon Courtney placed 19th overall in the shot put with a post-season qualifying throw of 11.81 meters.

Sophomore Joseph Bernardini notched a MASCAC qualifying toss of 11.19m in the weight throw with a  19th place finish, while Milcent added a 29th place showing in the 60 meter hurdles to qualify for MASCAC's to round out the top Falcon performances on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's track and field team will be back in action following the winter break as they compete in the 2015-16 Reggis Poyau Memorial Invite, hosted by Brandeis University on Saturday, January 16th at 11 a.m.
