Amaral and Hastings Lead Fitchburg State at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team captured third place at the MASCAC Championship, and sixth place in the Alliance Championship held on Saturday afternoon at the ALL Well North Wellness Center on the campus of Plymouth State University.

Junior Brian Amaral led the Falcons by establishing a MASCAC meet record of 15:30.31 to finish first in the 5,000 meter. His league-record time was good for second in the Alliance results. Amaral also placed second in the MASCAC and third in the Alliance in the 3,000 meter with a time of 9:01.92.

Sophomore Jake Hastings had an outstanding meet as well, placing first in the mile for both the MASCAC and the Alliance at 4:27.24; and second in the conference and fourth in the Alliance in the 1,000 meter with a D3 qualifying time of 2:37.86.

Junior Chauncey Beatty was the conference's top finisher in the 800 meter with a time of 2:01.24, which was also good for second place in the Alliance results.

Junior Nicholas Levenson finished fifth in league competition in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.06.

Senior Richard Ethier, IV (1:25.86) and freshman Austin Landress (1:26.40) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 600 meter run among MASCAC competitiors.

Among other conference results, freshmen Anthony Darrigo (15:58.13) and Joseph Darrigo (16:19.64) placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 5,000 meter, right behind Amaral. The pair finished in the opposite order behind Amaral in 3,000 meter, with Joseph in fifth (9:25.00) and Anthony in seventh (9:25.62).

Freshman Cameron Stalters took third in both the conference and Alliance standings in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.72.

Hastings, Ethier, Beatty and junior Matthew Cuomo combined for a MASCAC second-place finish and Alliance fourth-place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay.

Sophomore Ben Sattiewhite led the Green and Gold in the field events, finishing second in both meet results in the high jump at a height of 1.98 meters. Senior Akhiel Willis took fourth place in the triple jump (12.79 meters) and sophomore Chavinskee Milcent placed fifth in the long jump (6.45 meters).

The Fitchburg State men's indoor track team returns to action next weekend as select members with compete in the 2015-16 DIII New England Championships, hosted by M.I.T. for a meet starting at 9 a.m.
