Fitchburg State Track & Field Athletes Excel at the All-New England Championships
BOSTON, Mass. - Individual members of the Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team excelled at the two-day All-New England Championships, hosted by Boston University, on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, junior Chauncey Beatty qualified for the Saturday finals of the 500 meter with a time of 1:05.61. Also, senior Richard Ethier, IV ran a 1:06.93 to also qualify for the ECAC meet. Finally on Day 1, the distance medley team of Beatty, Ethier, freshman Anthony Darrigo, and junior Brian Amaral turned in a time of 10:47.15.
On Saturday, Beatty finished eighth in the finals of the 500 with a time of 1:05.95. Amaral posted a personal best and ECAC qualifying time of 8:41.37 in the 3000 meter. In the mile, sophomore Jake Hastings turned in a personal best and ECAC qualifying time of 4:19.57. Sophomore Ben Sattiewhite took fourth place in the high jump at a height of 1.99 meters. And the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Ethier, Hastings, Amaral, and junior Matt Cuomo qualified for the ECACs with a time of 8:04.38.
Individual qualifiers will now compete on March 4th and 5th at the ECAC Championships @ Ocean Breeze, Staten Island, N.Y.
