Fitchburg State Indoor Track & Field Athletes Enjoy Success at Weekend Meets

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Members of the Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor track & field teams were in action this past weekend, with the men participating in the ECAC Championships at Ocean Breeze, Staten Island, N.Y., and the women competing at the Final NCAA Qualifying Meet at Tufts University's Gantcher Field House in Boston.

Among top finishers for the men on the track were: junior Chauncey Beatty, who finished 5th in the 500 meter with a time of 1:05.93; senior Richard Ethier, IV, who ran the 500 meter in 1:07.30 (16th place); sophomore Brian Amaral, with a time of 8:46.34 in the 3000 meter (10th place); and sophomore Jake Hastings, who ran the mile in 4:22.55 (15th place) - his second fastest time ever.

The Falcons had a pair of sophomore standouts in the high jump, with Ben Sattiewhite jumping 1.98 meters (8th) and Chavinskee Milcent jumping 1.83 meters (14th). 

Sattiewhite is now ranked 10th in the nation in the high jump and will be leaving for Grinnell College in Iowa on Wednesday to compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

For the women, sophomore Annie Woolley ran a personal-best 9.16 in the 60 meter hurdles to finish in 5th place, while junior Morgan Steele posted a 13.99-meter distance in the weight throw and placed 6th.
