Fitchburg State Shines At Tufts Stampede
Sattiewhite paced Falcons, earning top honors in the high jump with an Open NE qualifying mark of 2.03m
MEDFORD, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team competed at the 2017 Tufts Stampeded this afternoon at the Gantcher Field House.
Senior Ben Sattiewhite lead the way for Fitchburg State with an Open New England qualifying mark of 2.03 meters with a first place finish in the high jump, while sophomore Cameron Stalters set a new school record in the heptathlon with a total of 4,157 points, finishing fifth overall in the event.
Junior Jake Hastings was also solid for the Falcons, placing second in the mile with a DIII NE qualifying time of 4:23.66, while classmate Brian Amaral turned in DIII New England qualifying time of 8:47.35 with an eighth place finish in the 3000 meter.
Senior Chauncey Beatty placed 17th in the 200m with a MASCAC qualifying time of 23.70 seconds, while in the 3000m, sophomore Anthony Darrigo (9:20.18) and classmate Joseph Darrigo (9:26.19) placed 20th and 24th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's.
In the 60 meter hurdles, senior Nicholas Levenson collected a post-season qualifying time of 9.51 seconds with an 11th place effort, while Beatty notched a MASCAC qualifying time of 1:24.61 in the 600m (5th).
Senior Joseph Little registered a post-season qualifying time of 2:06.64 with an 11th place finish in the 800 meter, while senior Matthew Cuomo finished 15th in the 1000 meter with MASCAC qualifying time of 2:43.11.
