Fitchburg State Soars At Dartmouth Indoor Classic

Sattiewhite and Stalters qualify for Open NE's for Falcons at Dartmouth Indoor Classic

HANOVER, N.H. The Fitchburg State men's indoor track team was in action this afternoon as the Falcons competed in the 2017 Dartmouth Indoor Classic at the Leveron Field House.

Sophomore Cameron Stalters led the way for the Green and Gold, placing sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with an Open New England qualifying time of 8.47 seconds, while senior Ben Sattiewhite posted an Open NE qualifying mark of 2.07m in the high jump with a second place effort. With that jump, Sattiewhite currently ranks third in nation in the high jump.

Senior Chauncey Beatty was also solid for Fitchburg State, finishing fifth overall in the 400 meter with a DIII New England qualifying time of 51.37 seconds, while the 4x200 meter relay team of senior Eric Custadio, classmate Nicholas Levenson, sophomore Daniel Nkansah and junior Mark Tonelli placed second overall with a time of 1:37.61.

In the mile, junior Brian Amaral (4:26.12) and sophomores Anthony Darrigo (4:37.76) and Joseph Darrigo (4:46.30) finished 15th, 31st and 39th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while sophomore Austin Landress turned in a post-season qualifying time of 53.37 seconds in the 400 meter with an 18th place effort.

In the field, sophomore Wilkerson Pierre notched a MASCAC qualifying mark of 12.52 meters in the triple jump (6th), while freshman Kyle Nelson collected a pair of post-season qualifying tosses in the shot put (12.65m) and weight throw (10.70m), placing 18th and 20th respectively.

Junior Joseph Bernardini finished 17th overall in the shot put with a post-season qualifying toss of 12.72m, while Stalters rounded out the top Falcons efforts on the day with a 14th place finish in the pole vault (3.45m) to qualify for the MASCAC championships.

The Fitchburg State men's indoor track team returns to action next weekend as they complete in the 2016-17 MASCAC/Alliance Indoor Track Championship Meet, hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday at 10 a.m.
