Fitchburg State Races At DIII New England Championships

Beatty, Sattiewhite and Stalters earn All-New England Honors

MEDFORD, MASS. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team competed in the 2017 Division III New England Championships this afternoon, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Field House.

Senior Chauncey Beatty paced the Falcons with an Open New England qualifying time and new school record of 1:23.48 in the 600 meter to place eighth overall to earn All-New England honors, while classmate Ben Sattiewhite turned in a third place effort in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters to claim All-New accolades.

Junior Brian Amaral was solid as well, turning in a 12th place time of 8:43.43 in the 3000 meter, while fellow junior Jake Hastings posted a time of 4:23.56 with an 11th place finish in the mile.

Sophomore Cameron Stalters also captured All-New England honors with a seventh place time of 8.77 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, while the distance medley relay team of senior Matthew Cuomo, classmate Joseph Little, Beatty and Hastings finished tenth overall with a time of 10:44.01 to round out the top Falcons efforts on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's indoor track team returns to action next weekend as select member compete in the 2017 Open New England Championships, hosted by Northeastern University, starting on Friday, February 24th at 2 PM.
