Fitchburg State Shines At Dartmouth Relays

Sattiewhite earns top honors in the high jump with Open New England qualifying mark of 2.05 meters 

Hanover, N.H. – The Fitchburg State men's indoor track and field team placed sixth at the 48th annual Dartmouth Relays with a total of 14 points this afternoon at the Leverone Field House on the campus of Dartmouth College.

Senior Ben Sattiewhite (Salem, Mass.) led the way for the Green and Gold after placing first overall in the high jump with an Open New England qualifying mark of 2.05 meters, while classmate Brian Amaral (Tewksbury, Mass.) posted a DIII NE qualifying time of 8:45.55 in the 3000 meter with a ninth place effort.

Junior Cameron Stalters (Norton, Mass.) was also solid for Fitchburg State, turning in a DIII New England qualifying time of 8.62 second with an 11th place finish in the 60m hurdles, while newcomer Christian McWhinnie-Armstead (Lowell, Mass.) placed fourth overall in the high jump with a DIII NE qualifying jump of 1.90 meters.

In the 3000 meter, freshman Jacob Movsessian (New Ipswich, N.H) and junior Anthony Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass.) notched MASCAC qualifying times of 9:21.69 and 9:31.80 respectively, while senior Jake Hastings (Phillipston, Mass.) finished 11th in the mile with a post-season qualifying time of 4:27.15.

Junior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass.) and senior Andrew Mooney (Framingham, Mass.) posted MASCAC qualifying times of 56.66 seconds and 60.49 seconds in the 400m, while newcomer Nathaniel Rogers (Foxboro, Mass.), Mooney and Stopka added post-season qualifying times of 7.61 seconds, 7.94 seconds and 8.11 seconds respectively in the 60 meter dash.

In the field, sophomore Kyle Nelson (Wilmington, Mass.) registered a MASCAC qualifying toss of 12.85 meters in the shot put to place 21st overall, while senior Joseph Bernardini (Lowell, Mass.) added a 30th place post-season qualifying toss of 11.99 meters in the  shot put to round out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's track and field team returns to action next weekend as it completes at Brandeis University on Saturday for a meet starting at 11:00 A.M.
