Falcons Fly At ECAC Championships
Desrochers registers pair third place finishes for men; McClure equals school record in pole vault to pace the women
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 18, 2013) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams competed in the 2013 ECAC Championships hosted by Springfield College on Thursday and Friday.
For the men, senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) continued his strong throwing, posting a pair of ECAC honors with two third place finishes. The senior thrower registered a third place effort in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 56.33 meters before notching his second third place finish over the weekend in the discus with a throw of 47.59 meters.
Sophomore Rebecca McClure (Lyndeborough, N.H./Wilton-Lyndeborough) paced the women, tying her own school record height of 3.25 meters in the pole vault with a 24th place effort, while sophomore Arthina Robert (Lynn, Mass./Lynn Voc Tech) was strong in the 100 meter dash, posting a personal best time of 12.61
On the track, the women’s 4x800 meter relay team of juniors Samantha Wilkinson (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) and Karollynn Wickless-Adams (Lansdale, Penn./North Penn) and sophomores Braila Roy (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) and Jenae Harrison (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) put forth a solid time of 10:08.59, while Harrison finished strong in the 800 meter with a time of 2:18.54.
In the field, junior Brittany Chance (Foster, R.I./Ponaganset) was also solid, finishing 22nd overall in the javelin with a throw of 32.99 meters to round out the top Falcon performances at the ECAC Championships.
