Desrochers Competes at the NCAA Division III Championships

Dracut, Mass. native places 17th overall in the men’s discus

FITCHBURG, Mass. (May 26, 2013) – Senior Zach Desrochers (Dracut, Mass./Greater Lowell) competed at the 2013 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (La Crosse, WI.) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Desrochers entered the NCAA Division III Championships ranked 12th in the nation after witnessing a stellar week at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships in late April. Zach set his NCAA qualifying mark in the discus with a MASCAC/Alliance record throw of 51.02 meters, earning an Alliance Championship in the process.

At the 2013 Championships, the senior thrower put forth a strong effort, posting a 17th place finish with a toss of 47.14 meters (154 feet, 7 inches).

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams concluded their seasons last weekend as members of the squads competed at the ECAC Championships hosted by Springfield College.
