Fitchburg State Races At All-New England’s

Amaral and 4x800m relay team post ECAC qualifying times for Falcons

WESTFIELD, Mass. (May 10, 2014) – Members of the Fitchburg State men’s outdoor track and field team were in action this weekend as they competed in the 2014 All-New England Championships hosted by Westfield State University.

Freshman Brian Amaral (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed tenth overall with an ECAC qualifying time of 32:14.32 in the 10,000 meter, while classmate Brandon Hannon (Pelham, N.H.) was also solid in the 3000 meter steeplechase, turning in time of 10:30.29 with a 25th place effort.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Hannon, sophomore Richard Ethier (Shirley, Mass.), freshman Matt Cuomo (Carlisle, Mass.) and classmate Chauncey Beatty (Waldorf, Md.) also had a strong weekend for the Falcons, finishing 15th overall with an ECAC qualifying time of 8:04.57 to round out the top performances for Fitchburg State.

Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will be in action next weekend as they compete at the 2014 ECAC Championships hosted by RPI.
