MASCAC Releases Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Polls
WESTFIELD, Mass. — The Fitchburg State Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams have been picked to finish third and fourth, respectively, in the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season polls as voted on by the coaches from around the league.
Westfield State, reigning 2015 MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Champions, collected three first place votes for 15 points in this year's poll. Up next in second with one first place vote for 11 points is Bridgewater State. Tied for third are Fitchburg State and Worcester State with 10 points apiece. Rounding out the men's poll is Massachusetts Maritime with four points.
On the women's side, Westfield State had three first place votes for 15 points. Right behind in second place is Bridgewater State with the final two first place votes for 14 points. Landing in third place with nine points is Worcester State. Fitchburg State claimed eight points in the poll for fourth place. Massachusetts Maritime takes the final spot with four points.
Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Massachusetts Maritime open their outdoor season on March 26 at the Bridgewater State Invitational while Westfield State and Worcester State head to the Wesleyan University Invitational.
