Fitchburg State Competes At DIII New England Championships

Stalters places second overall in javelin with Open NE qualifying toss of 62.23 meters

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.  – The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track & field team placed 21st overall with a total of 12 points at the 2017 DIII New England Championships this weekend, hosted by Williams College.

Sophomore Cameron Stalters paved the way for the Green and Gold, placing second overall in the javelin with an Open New England qualifying throw of 62.23 meters to collect All-New England accolades, while senior Ben Sattiewhite earned All-New England honors in the high jump, posting a fifth place jump of 1.96 meters.

The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Jake Hastings, classmate Joseph Little, sophomore Anthony Darrigo and classmate Austin Landress turned in a solid time of 8:13.49 to finish tenth overall, while in the 400 meter hurdles, Landress (58.17) and senior Nicholas Levenson (58.27) placed 19th and 20th respectively.

Junior Brian Amaral turned in a time of 15:47.29 in the 5000 meter, while the 4x100 meter relay team of senior Eric Custadio, fellow senior Trenton Garlington, Landress and Levenson notched a 15th place time of 44.09 seconds.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Levenson, sophomores Andrew Tricker and Wilkerson Pierre and freshman Ryan Carter rounded out the top Falcon efforts on the afternoon, placing 20th overall with a time of 3:37.88.

The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track team returns to action next weekend as select members complete in the 2017 Open New England Championships, hosted by Williams College, starting on Friday at 10 a.m.
