Fitchburg State Soars At Open New England Championships

Stalters earns All-New England Honors with second place toss of 62.91m in the javelin

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.  – The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track & field team competed at the 2017 Open New England Championships this weekend, hosted by Williams College.

Sophomore Cameron Stalters paced the Falcons, placing second overall in the javelin with a toss of 62.91 meters to earn All New England Honors, while sophomore Joseph Darrigo turned in an 18th place time of 10:25.48 in the 3000 meter steeple chase.

Junior Brian Amaral posted a solid time of 15:25.70 in the 5000 meter to finish 24th overall, while classmate Jake Hastings finished 24th in the 1500 meter with time of 4:09.99. Senior Nicholas Levenson notched a time of 58.10 seconds in the 400 hurdles with a 29th place effort to round out the top Fitchburg State performances on afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track team returns to action next weekend as select members complete in the 2017 ECAC DIII Championships, hosted by Westfield State University, starting on Thursday at 10 a.m.
