Falcons Soar at Jerry Gravel Invitational

Green and Gold Sweep Top 3 in 1500m

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2021 Jerry Gravel Invitational hosted by Westfield State University this afternoon.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State owned the 1500 meter race notching the first three spots. Freshman Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) earned top honors with a time of 4:12.09, followed by Brian O'Sullivan (Templeton, Mass.) and Nicholas Sachetta (Billerica, Mass.), all three Falcons posted personal bests.

Sophomore Chris Morales (Lynn, Mass.) took top honors in the 400 meter dash (50.71) and was fourth in the 200 meters (23.14).

In the discus, freshman Nicholas Zeoli (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior Rodny Bonhomme (Bridgeport, Conn) were one (39.55m) and two (39.04m) respectively, both with personal marks.

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore Benjamin Sacramone (Hubbardston, Mass.) was 3rd in the 110m Hurdles (17.79) , 5th in the 400m hurdles, and 4th in the high jump.
  • Senior Cody Soderlund (Middleborough, Mass.) 2nd pole vault (3.35m)
  • Carson Doody (Ashby, Mass.) won the triple jump (12.97m)
  • Manyok won the 800 meters with the first sub two minute time (1:59.14) of the season in the MASCAC.

Up Next

The Falcons are off next week and will compete in the MASCAC Championship the weekend of May 1-2 at Westfield State.
