Bourassa Tabbed MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Shirley Mass. native earns second weekly accolade of the season 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore Liam Bourassa (Shirley, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The second-year Falcon collects his second weekly honor of the year after taking top honors in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying throw of 64.91 meters, while also qualifying for All-NE's in the discus with a second place mark of 46.02 meters.

In addition, Bourassa placed fifth in the hammer throw with a DIII New England qualifying toss of 49.13 meters as well as finishing fifth in the shotput with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 13.57 meters for the Falcons at the 2024 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College this past weekend. With his throw in the javelin, Liam is currently ranked second nationally in the javelin.

The Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returns to action this weekend as they compete at the 2024 Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT.
