Falcons Finish 2nd at Maple Syrup Challenge

Manyok finishes in second place at Vermont Tech

Randolph, Vermont. – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country team finished in second place with 54 points at the Vermont Tech Maple Syrup Challenge on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

Sophomore Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) led the Falcons with a second place finish (27:34.50) just 4 seconds out of the top spot. The Green and Gold had five members in the top 30. Junior Matthew Catarius (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished 23rd with a time of 30:21.41 just ahead of senior Trevor Fields (Shirley, Mass.). First year Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Cameron Davis (Gardner, Mass.) finished the race back-to-back at 26th and 27th with times of 31:34.59 and 31:37.54 respectively.

Inside the Numbers

  • Junior Sam Flint (Methuen, Mass.) finished in 31st place (32:05.16), classmate Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne, Mass.) was a runner behind in 33rd place (32:32.64).
  • Middlebury won the 2021 Vermont Tech Challenge with a total of 19 points.
