Whiting Tabbed MASCAC Softball Pitcher Of The Week

Sharon, Mass. native earns first weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. (March 31, 2014) – Junior pitcher Brittany Whiting (Sharon, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Sunday evening.

Whiting helped guide the Fitchburg State softball team to a 4-0 week, allowing just six hits with 16 strikeouts, no walks and an ERA of 0.00 in 14 innings of work. The third-year Falcon pitched a complete game three-hitter with ten K’s in Fitchburg State’s 1-0 shutout victory over Mitchell College on Thursday afternoon before recording her second three-hit shutout on the week with six strikeouts in the Green and Gold’s 4-0 victory against MASCAC rival Salem State on Saturday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State softball team returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts the Colonels of Curry College for a non-conference double header, starting at 3 p.m.
