Pietersen Tabbed MASCAC Softball Rookie Of The Week

Norton, Mass. native nets second straight weekly honor of the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman infielder Olivia Pietersen (Norton, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) softball rookie of the week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

The first-year infielder collects her second straight weekly accolade after hitting .455 (10-for-22) with two doubles, two triples, three runs scored and eight RBI in a seven game span for the Falcons. Pietersen finished a combined 5-for-6 with two runs scored, one double, one triple and three RBI in a pair of wins over La Roche (9-2) and Clarks Summit (9-0) on Tuesday before going 2-for-2 with an RBI and one run scored in a 9-7 triumph against Greenville on Thursday. Olivia finished the week, going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, one run scored and five RBI in a 17-5 victory over Keystone on Friday.

The Fitchburg State Softball team (6-4)) returns to action on Thursday as it travels to Anna Maria on Thursday for a non-conference double-header, starting at 3:00 PM.
