Cahill Tabbed MASCAC Softball Rookie Of The Week

Mansfield, Mass. native collects first weekly accolade of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman utility player Sarah Cahill (Mansfield, Mass.) was selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year Falcon went 3-0 in the circle for the Falcons with seven strikeouts over 12.1 innings of work, while batting .400 (4-for-10) with three doubles, one triple, one run scored and nine RBI in a 6-4 week for the Green and Gold.

Cahill earned her first collegiate win, allowing one unearned run on one hit with one K in two innings of relief as well as going 1-for-1 with a double and three RBI in a 9-7 triumph against Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday.

Sarah improved to 3-0 on the season, combining for six K's over 6.2 innings of work in addition to a 3-for-5 at the dish with a pair of doubles, one triple, six RBI, and one run scored in wins over Albertus Magnus (17-5) and St. Joseph of Connecticut (10-2).

The Fitchburg State softball team concluded its annual spring trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. with a record of 6-4 this past week.
