Fitchburg State Picked Second In 2010-11 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll

The Falcons of Fitchburg State University were picked second overall in the 2010 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office earlier this week.

Westfield State captured three first place votes on the men's side to amass 15 points to outdistance runner-up Fitchburg State, which claimed the other first place vote in amassing 12 points. Bridgewater State follows in third place with seven points, while Worcester State closed out the poll in fourth place with six points.

Westfield State claimed a pair of first place votes on the women's side in collecting 14 points to edge out Worcester State, which took the other two first place votes in amassing 12 points. Bridgewater State and Fitchburg State tied for third place in the women's poll by collecting seven points each.

The MASCAC announced in August that it was changing its acronym to "Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference" to reflect the name change of six member institutions (Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, Salem State, Westfield State and Worcester State) from College to University. In addition to those six universities, the MASCAC is also comprised of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
